PAG 5.1 for LEL Y12 Chemists

Good afternoon,

12dCh and I discovered, this morning, that PAG5.1 does not work. The mixture does not separate, even following some intervention with other solvents and by trying to "salt it out". This means that we will not be doing PAG 5.1 on Wednesday or Friday and will instead be starting PAG5.2.

If you read this message before the lesson please don't complete your homework and instead we will assess the risk of the chemicals at the start of the lesson, as the DNA.

Hello,

You can find the powerpoint for the lesson material in this folder:

2. Make notes on the formation of esters from alcohols and carboxylic acids. Make sure you can name them too

Work for Tuesday 1st March

As discussed yesterday I hope you have already spent some time completing the extension questions in your PAG folder.

Do make sure you return your folder to W9 before doing anything else!

I would now like you next to prepare for next week where we will carry out titrations.  In the resources folder is a powerpoint introduction, a guide to completing titration calculations and two question sheets with answers.

For next lesson please make notes on how to carry out a titration, complete the questions and mark them.  Bring all your work to our next lesson.

Thanks,
ERA

In our lesson tomorrow I will check you have completed all the questions and you can ask me about anything you found difficult.

Thanks,
